Public Finance Experts
We endeavor to find creative and responsible solutions to our client’s public finance needs.
Since 1972, the firm has focused on advising and counseling in the public finance arena, leading to the completion of a broad array of financings and refinancings aggregating in excess of $10 billion. Projects have included traditional municipal bonds (such as general obligation and revenue bonds), special assessment and local improvement bonds, and tax and revenue anticipation notes and warrants. The firm also specializes in more complex refunding arrangements, including leasing and revenue-based financings (such as advance refundings), as well as single family mortgage revenue bonds, multi-family housing revenue bonds, nonprofit facility revenue bonds, tax increment revenue allocation bonds, industrial development revenue bonds, educational facility bonds, hospital revenue bonds and certificates of participation in lease purchase and installment purchase obligations.
Attorneys in the firm’s public finance practice maintain strong, long-standing, partnerships with many of Idaho’s public finance issuers, including as general counsel to Idaho Housing and Finance Association, the largest housing, transportation, economic development, and nonprofit bond issuer in Idaho since 1972. The firm also variously acts as issuer, bond, and disclosure counsel on an array of financings for cities, counties, school districts, and related entities throughout Idaho, including as bond counsel to the Idaho Bond Bank Authority and the Idaho State Building Authority. The firm has maintained a listing in the Municipal Bond Attorney’s section of The Bond Buyer’s Directory of Municipal Bond Dealers (the “Redbook”) since 1977, the first law firm in Idaho to be so listed.
Authorities on Real Estate & Housing
The firm also represents consumer and commercial lenders, real estate buyers, sellers, brokers, and developers in matters related to creditor’s rights, mortgage servicing, banking and default, bankruptcy, real estate transactions, and mechanic’s liens. As a corollary to its real property and housing practice, the firm assists and guides clients on issues and investigations related to fair housing and discrimination, low-income housing programs and grants, and low-income housing development and financing.
Corporate & Commercial Specialists
Due to its expertise in finance and banking, the firm also devotes substantial time to helping clients across Idaho in the general practice of corporate and commercial law, including assistance and advice to business owners related to entity creation, the purchase and sale of businesses, and contracting, as well as other transactional issues.
